Tips for engaging on social media

  1. Use Visuals: Posts with images or videos tend to perform better. Share photos of your humanitarian work with your community or opt to use some of our visuals.  
  2. Hashtags: Use hashtags to increase the visibility of your posts. Recommended hashtags include:   #FredsLegacy , #FredHollows, #EndAvoidableBlindness, #HumanityAwards, #FredAwards, #FHFjuniorambassador, #FHFambassador, #FHF, #Specsavers

Creating social media videos: Create a short, heartfelt video (no longer than 1-2 minutes) sharing what the award means to you or why people should nominate and get involved.  

For authenticity, please film the video vertically on your phone, in a location that feels personal and meaningful—preferably somewhere outside of a typical webcam setting (such as at a favourite spot or a place that holds special significance to you). 

User-generated content like this works incredibly well on social media platforms. Your personal touch will help bring the award’s impact to life and inspire others to get involved.  

Don’t forget to tag The Foundation so your audience can easily connect with our platforms, and we can reshare your content! 

We also encourage you to share images of the good you’re doing in the world. Post pictures of yourself or someone you know making a difference in their community. Whether it’s a photo of you or someone else volunteering at a local soup kitchen or helping someone in need, we want to see YOUR stories too. Your own images can inspire others to get involved and create positive change.
