Ross joined The Foundation as its new CEO on March 24, 2025.
Ross is a non-profit and commercial leader who has over 30 years of leadership and management experience in complex domestic and international environments, including in-country development.
Ross joined The Fred Hollows Foundation as new CEO in March 2025. He is motivated by purpose, social justice and positive human impact, and committed to The Foundation’s vision of a world where no person is needlessly blind or vision impaired.
Before The Foundation, Ross was Chief Executive Officer, Superannuation at Australian Ethical Investment, where he managed $13 billion in funds and over 120,000 members, as well as ethical and impact investing. Previously, Ross was the Chief Executive Officer of Christian Super, a $2 billion superannuation fund with over 30,000 members across Australia.
He previously worked at World Vision Australia and World Vision International for over 10 years in several roles, including Chief Operating Officer and Senior Director of Operations for the Middle East and Eastern Europe region. His key achievements include establishing and growing new country programs in Syria, Jordan, Turkey and Iraq, as well as growing the organisation’s grants portfolio to approximately $150 million.
During his career Ross has held a number of positions in the corporate and not-for-profit sector, primarily in investment banking, superannuation, mining and community development. He was Head of Corporate Risk for Macquarie Bank for several years, and his early professional experience was gained living and working in Indigenous communities in the Western Desert, Arnhem Land and the Pilbara regions of Australia.
For six years he served as a Director and Founding Chair of AgroInvest, a microfinance bank serving rural families in Serbia and Montenegro and he currently sits on various other boards for organisations focused on social enterprise and technology. He is the current board chair of the Responsible Investment Association of Australasia (RIAA).
Ross’ formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Science (Geology/Geophysics), GradDipEd, and MBA (Deakin University). He is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
